Mössbauer sources with 57Co radionuclide MK57.BP
(TU 95 2407-2018)
Field of application: nuclear gamma-resonance spectroscopy.
A standard Mossbauer source is a sealed capsule made of aluminum, inside which there is a matrix (substrate) of metallic rhodium with Co-57 incorporated into the matrix by annealing. The working radiation of resonant photons with an energy of 14.4 keV is emitted through the capsule's exit window, which is an aluminum foil with a thickness of 30 microns. By agreement with the customer, the capsule can be made of titanium alloy, and the exit window can be made of beryllium or radiation-resistant lavsan (Kapton) with a thickness of 20 microns. The source capsule is sealed by laser welding or epoxy compound.

Chrome can be used as a matrix (substrate) material in agreement with the customer.
Cyclotron JSC also produces point Mössbauer sources, which are an aluminum alloy capsule sealed with an epoxy compound, inside which there is a matrix of metallic rhodium with Co-57.

(TU 95 2407-2018)

The sources meet the requirements of GOST 27212, GOST 25926 and ISO 2919 and have the following ISO classifications:
- in an aluminum capsule with an aluminum window - C32131;
- in an aluminum capsule with a window made of lavsan (Kapton) - C22121;
- in a titanium capsule with a beryllium window - C53233.
The tightness of the source corresponds to GOST R 51119-2002 (ISO 9978-92).

By agreement with the customer, the diameter of the active part of the sources, as well as the overall dimensions of the capsule, can be changed, and the activity of Co-57 in standard Mössbauer sources can be increased to 300 mCi (11.1 GBq).
